First Hour Magic Toy Chest Review

Very interesting review of the *new* Magic Toy Chest over on FirstHour.net. They only review the first hour and we followed World of Goo... but although the scores aren't that high (5 is seen as average) there was a ton of praise throughout the review, so take a look.

Magic Toy Chest Gameplay Video: Puzzle 20

I spent some time this week recording some new videos of the Magic Toy Chest. Obviously, it's important to have some trailers/videos of the game as it looks in its current form. Check out the video...it shows a possible solution to Level 20 of the game/demo. I've also taken a substantial number of screenshots and should be updating the game's webpage soon.

Magic Toy Chest Take 2

Well the good news is that the magic toy chest v2.0 is pretty much completed. It took A LOT longer than anticipated and cost a pretty penny to make. My money driven self really wants to release the game directly on my site and cash in and recoup the cost of updating the title and that very well could happen...but since I suck at marketing, I'm going to wait a while as I pursue publishing/distribution agreements. The Magic Toy Chest will surely be sold via our website at some point, but that will come in due time. Right now, we're working on finalizing everything, beta testing, and tweaking all of the 100+ levels that ship with the game.

The Magic Toy Chest Updated Backgrounds

The Magic Toy Chest is vastly approaching its re-release... Hopefully all the time and hardwork put in to improve this game will pay off. Hopefully everyone agrees that the new ones are vastly better than the old.

Updating the Magic Toy Chest

Updating the Magic Toy Chest has taken a lot longer than expected, but after reading our reviews and critiques, I felt that I could easily make improvements to vastly improve the game. Sorry for the lengthy time that this update has taken, but as we worked on it, more and more things were included.

We still don't have everything done for the update...but we're very close. Check out the new graphics above (its only the load screen). Anyway, Here's everything we've been able to cram in the update so far:

• Upgraded Visuals - Brand New backgrounds, Kid Avatars, and tweaked foregrounds
• New Graphic effects - all foregrounds have a drop shadow to better distinguish themselves from the background

• Trophies! - Visit your bedroom to check out what toy trophies you've earned. Work to unlock over 16 trophies by mastering all 80 puzzles and completing specific game achievements

Magic Toy Chest Version 1.01 Released

The New Demo version has been uploaded.

The full version patch can be downloaded here if you have already purchased the game. If you purchase the game now, you should have the latest version.

Version 1.01 Changes:
Fixed Total Game Time glitch where statistic increased too quickly
Graphically changed the title screen to make it easier to navigate
New Buy Now Screen (for Demo)
Fixed a Bug where Testing a Level without saving it caused an inescapable loop
Demo game setup no longer leaves start menu folder empty
Setup files and download size reduced/compressed

There's also background filters for everyone that found the backgrounds too "loud." There's also a number of tweaks that make the easier tonavigate, etc and nicer on the eyes. Our Game Site / Online Manual / Devlog for our next game: "The Magic Toy Chest" has launched! You can visit it over here or by typing in http://magictoychest.blogspot.com. Visit the site for periodic updates leading up to the game's release. The idea is that the site will eventually encompass media, pictures, etc of all the trailers, levels, toys, etc present in the game and act as an online manual and player resource for new levels, hints etc. Definitely check it out for public alpha and beta testing of the game in the near future!
